IPv6: IPv6 and DNS
last edited 4 years ago by lenehan
- Add AAAA records to the DNS to hold your IPv6 addresses:
egwene6 IN AAAA 2002:cbd9:1d86::1
- Think carefully before adding AAAA records for exisiting hosts. Do you really want every IPv6 capable system out their trying to connect to services using IPv6 on this host? While many services will fall back to IPv4 when an IPv6 conection fails (such as if your mail server doesn't support IPv6) it will cause delays and may break some clients.
- Reverse DNS for 6to4 addresses can be enabled by connecting via IPv6 from one of your 6to4 addresses to: https://6to4.nro.net/ You should have the name servers configured and working before attempting to register them at nro.
